North Little Rock, AR, November 16, 2023 — In the wake of devastating summer storms, Arkansas residents in several counties have a ray of hope. The Arkansas Division of Emergency Management (ADEM) has announced the availability of disaster assistance for homeowners and renters affected by the severe storms and straight-line winds that struck between June 25 and 26.

Eligible counties include Arkansas, Faulkner, Lonoke, Mississippi, Pope, Poinsett, and Pulaski. This assistance, part of the State of Arkansas Individual Assistance program, aims to support those whose primary residences were rendered uninhabitable or destroyed.

The assistance encompasses a range of needs, including home repairs, cleaning, debris removal, and personal property repair. However, it’s important to note that businesses, secondary homes, vehicles, sheds, outbuildings, fencing, and food loss are not covered under this disaster assistance program.

Residents seeking aid must furnish various documents for application, such as the address of the damaged property, proof of ownership or rental agreement, insurance details, and a comprehensive account of the damage. Furthermore, a damage verification inspection by an ADEM representative is mandatory.

ADEM plans to set up a dedicated hotline for applications, with the application period commencing on November 20. This initiative underscores ADEM’s commitment to mitigating the impact of emergencies and disasters in Arkansas through effective response and recovery strategies.

For further details and application guidelines, affected residents can reach out to ADEM at PublicAffairs@adem.arkansas.gov or call (501) 683-6700. Additional information is also available on their website .
